Building Bridges in Brain Injury Recovery: The Power of Connection

Reflections on Connection and Growth in Neurorehabilitation

Looking back at my time within the NHS, I feel a deep sense of gratitude for the experiences, the colleagues and most importantly, the patients and families I've had the privilege to support. Through the years, I've witnessed the profound importance of relationships, community and resilience in the journey of brain injury recovery. Each interaction has taught me valuable lessons about the role of connection in healing - not only for those directly affected by brain injury, but for their families, caregivers and communities. These insights have shaped my approach to neurorehabilitation, and they will continue to guide me as I now focus more on developing my private practice, Connect Neuropsychology, a venture that complements my NHS work while opening new doors to serve families in fresh ways.

Introducing Connect Neuropsychology: A Vision for Holistic Support

Launching Connect Neuropsychology is not simply the start of something new, but a continuation of everything I value most deeply about my work.  Connect Neuropsychology’s website will serve as a platform to share insights, support and resource focused on the impact of brain injury on family dynamics and relationships.  My hope is to bring greater visibility to the relational aspects of neurorehabilitation - acknowledging the emotional and social needs that are often just as essential as physical recovery.  In practical terms, this means expanding my reach to work closely with brain injury case managers and lawyers to provide a wide range of professional services that aim to improve the lives of brain injury survivors and their families.  This will include a range of specialist psychological therapies for family members, reflective practise sessions and bespoke training for brain injury professionals and care teams, and specialist clinical and research supervision on all things family and brain injury.  We will partner with our expert connections to bring you the latest insights and innovations.

A New Chapter: Championing Connection in Neurorehabilitation

In creating Connect Neuropsychology, I aim to build on and blend existing, valued public and private sector connections, maintaining my commitment to the NHS while creating a complementary space where I can engage more flexibly, creatively and deeply with the work I love. It’s an evolution that aligns with my longstanding goal to provide family-sensitive support that’s accessible, compassionate and rooted in real-life experience. Ultimately, Connect Neuropsychology will be a place to champion the power of relationships in neurorehabilitation. Whether it's supporting families, training professionals or simply sharing stories that inspire hope, my vision is to build a community where connection is at the heart of brain injury recovery. I look forward to seeing how this new beginning unfolds and I'm excited for the possibilities ahead, as I honour the past while embracing the future
